No, not THAT kind of dirty...get your minds out of the gutter.
Fast and dirty in the sense that typos and spelling errors WILL abound, I'm sure. If only because mercury is still retrograde, and will communications are a mess.
My best laid plans today are already a shmables. Everything was fine up to this afternoon...Roni and I went to the <a href-"www.reclaiming.org">Reclaiming Ritual</a> for Mabon (the autumnal equinox) last night, where Food Not Bombs catered a respectable feast (it was vegetarian, though, so meat eaters wwould turn up their noses at it). We met up with <lj user="ambar"> and <lj user="elflet"> there and had a wonderous time. BTW, if I haven't said it before those two are incredible cooks...the gingerbread and pear cake was a combo I had never considered before now.
So, the plan was I would drop Roni at Noe's to pick up the Volvo (after obtaining icy goodness at the Castro 7-11) with Ambar and Elflet in the back. When we got there, the main reason for driving by first (the casto's noterious tendency to have horrid parking) was moot...there was parking (LEGAL parking) right on the corner in front.
When she came out, she was fuming...all week her attempts to find frozen coke have met with frustration. "I am SO ready for mercury to go direct!" she exclaimed...just as she accidentally flung her straw in such a way that a smattering of blue berry-like frozen beverage was splased into my face and eye. Much hilarity ensued, with "Woadn't it be nice" jokes going on, and me smearing the blueness about my head.
Poor Roni had forgotten to grab me a can of Dr. Pepper, so I said I could handle getting it myself...which earned me moans of "You're tempting fate!"
Sure enough, they were completely out of all forms of non-diet Dr. Pepper. Disgusted, I grabbed a can of coke and beat a hasty retreat, much to the amusement of all.
We dropped off Roni, Elflet by his car (several blocks from the ritual...I can't believe they walked all that way carrying food!) and decided to head to the House with Ambar (with a quick stop at In and Out for some dead protein. So I'm an omnivore...)
We had a good nights sleep, were lazy and snuggly for most of the morning, got in a good hour long soak, showered, and head back to Daly City, where her truck was parked.
Which brings us to now. The plan had been for me to head over to the east bay, kill an hour or so, meet up with Audra...and so forth. However, I just got a call from Michele tearfully asking me to pick her up and bring her home...it appears that a brother of her dear friend Barry has died. She really broken up about it...I didn't know she knew him that well.
So, I'm off to the races...to get Michele home, and to somehow get back to the east bay. I might have to call Audra and either delay things for an hour or two, or (ack) cancel. I hope not the latter...but Michele is the priority here. I stopped at Roni's for a bathroom break and to calm down enough to drive again (thus this entry).
Wish me luck...I'm outta here!
