Sureality In The World's Fakest City

I've been waiting weeks for this event. I'm really tired at the moment, so this will be a rambling post. VERY much so.

Mostly because it means that a solid six weeks of non-stop hilarity in the form of doing way too much in too little time is nearly at an end. Things should lighten up considerably after this week. As if I wasn't already running full out to get the P4Web beta out the door, there was a massive re-write of the internal knowledge base for public consumption, the usual support fun, and (thanks to a moment of total, not to mention chronic, insanity) a side project I actually VOLUNTEERED for.

There's a reason for that, but it's not something I can talk about until after the conference. Let's just say that there might be something leaked to YouTube (not by me!) in a week or so.

(Leave it to the Hard Rock to have a pretty excellent FM station on the pre-set... though just when I could almost forget that I'm in Vegas, a completely bizarre ad targeting "Adult Entertainment Performers" for a 24 hour private vault service to store your cash tips came on.)

By the way, Kim, Roni and I went to see SpiderMan 3 in IMAX Friday. It's really good -- the critics hate it because they don't think Action Movies should make you think. Thus far everyone I've heard say it "sucked" couldn't say why -- I suspect they're being manipulated by the critics who would like to pretend that this movie won't make over a billion dollars before the end of the month. All in all it's a fine way to end the trilogy (yeah, they'll make more. But without Raimi, why bother?)

When I walked into the room, I was STUNNED to see a 47 inch flat panel TV on one wall. The crime is that there's no way to plug the laptop into it. GYP!

The food is 24 hours. This is the first time in almost 7 years I've been on an honest to god expense account, but I don't want to go COMPLETELY nuts -- besides, I have the simple taste of a gourmand, so a sirloin burger and chocolate shake delivered on demand is a happy thing.

Okay, I need to wrap this up -- the aforementioned food arrives momentarily, and the morning is coming early. This is NOT a vacation, after all, and that special project is unveiled tomorrow. At least I'll be awakened by a Bose waveform clock radio. I can see why people like those things... VERY nice sound. I wonder if they have an iPod dockable model yet?

(Yeah, I know I can look on the horribly overpriced net connection. Why is it that the higher end the hotel, the more onerous the connection cost? In this case, it's 11.99 for 24 hours PER LAPTOP).
