Senior Technical Support Engineer
  • Full time, exempt position
  • Reports to Technical Support Manager
As a senior member of our technical support team, you will be responsible for testing, supporting, and helping to develop products for the SCM market.  We are looking for people who know relational databases, version control and release management, and are familiar with a variety of hardware and software platforms. Candidates must have software development experience, excellent communication skills, and enthusiasm for providing world-class support to a variety of customers (ranging from open source to large corporate sites).

Job Description and Responsibilities
Support our Customers and Prospects
  • Provide high-level technical support and training to customers and prospects
  • Independently research, troubleshoot, resolve and document complex problems
  • Mentor other engineers
  • Occasionally represent Perforce at demos and trade shows
Participate in Product Development
  • Provide detailed problem analysis and suggestions for product improvements
  • Develop internal automation and productivity tools
Job requirements
  • BA/BS degree in computer science or equivalent
  • 10+ years of software development and/or technical support experience
  • Detailed knowledge of client/server applications, relational databases, multiple operating systems (Unix/Linux/BSD), and TCP/IP networks
  • Knowledge of hardware and operating system internals, memory management, networking, and other performance-related aspects of computers
  • Knowledge of version control and release management
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with C/C++
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with Perl, Python, Ruby or other scripting languages
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems, research solutions, and complete calls and projects independently
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
  • Enthusiasm for providing excellent customer support
