I ran across this startling little satellite image on NASA's site*:
*Clicking on this image brings up a very LARGE image file... almost 3/4's of a meg in size. Dial-up users be forewarned!
Now, if you look to the top of the full size image, on the left hand side, you'll see the Monterey Bay area. This is NOT an enhanced image... there is indeed no sign of the marine layer that normally keeps our temps in reasonable ranges.
